Baseball Stitch Pattern Brush by vectorgeek Baseball Stitch Pattern Brush by vectorgeek
Haven't posted much so I thought I post a couple of tutorials. Here's one on how to make a baseball stitch pattern brush and map it to a 3D object in Illustrator.

Update: I uploaded the Illustrator CS4 file if you want to see how it's made.

When i try to download the file it's just a pdf not an ai or eps. Do you have the ai file for this? I am creating a logo for our baseball team in vector format and I'd like to use the seams if possible.

Thanks!
Sam

PDF files are native to Adobe Illustrator. Just open the pdf with Illustrator.

That is so awesome! I got to get me one of those etching machines! The template might have gotten a little flat because you stretched it. It would be easy to fix with Illustrator by dragging out the anchor point control handles until you get a smoother transition. I love how the Pittsburgh skyline came out.

Glad you like it! Yeah, laser etchers are stinking fun toys. My next project is to etch little wooden spheres into a globes - I've got a few sizes and want to see how small I can go with the map details. Should be fun!

Thanks again for the image, and thanks for the tip to fix my template - I've got it much closer to the the right shape now.

If it doesn't open properly in your browser, right click and select "save link as.." and save it to your pc. Then you can open it with Adobe Illustrator.

Just click the download link and it downloads as a PDF file. Open that file with Illustrator and you'll see how it's all put together.

The picture shows how to put it all together. You basically create a pattern brush for the stitch and then apply it to the path. Once that is done you can create a symbol you can map to the 3D revolve object. I can post the Illustrator file for download if you want it.
