This is a first of 10 Battlestar Galactica squadron patches I'm working on. Done in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop CS3 from reference screen captures.

Update: Add a little more detail to the stars.

Outstanding work! I love these patches. Do you do custom work as well, for other Squadrons?

Love these, I've been trying to design some of my own patches in a manner like this... Maybe I need to get Illustrator.

Did you make the textures yourself? 'Cause I'm having a hell of a time finding textures like that.

Illustrator was just used for the basic paths and stitch patterns. I like it better than the pen tool in Photoshop. Illustrator is great for creating stitch pattern brushes to give it that sewn look. The textures were a combination of the stock pattern overlays in Photoshop and the texturizer filter. I also use some Alien Skin texture filer on occasion. The animal fur filter is great.

Yeah, and it'd the stitching I'd really like to do, which I can't do in PS. And I'm pretty sure you have much nicer patterns than I have... None of mine look like those.

Yeah, you just have to play with creating patterns. Sometimes I even take pics of different materials and use those as patterns in Photoshop.
